What to wear to a very casual outdoor wedding?

I’m going to a wedding this Saturday afternoon. It’s outdoors and very casual (think men in cowboy hats and boots). I have a periwinkle, high-waisted, flared skirt I’d like to wear, but I’m not sure what to wear with it. It looks cute with a white button-up shirt, but I don’t think that’s appropriate. Also, the wedding is in the late afternoon and it will likely get cold, so I’ll need a cover-up of some sort. I’m planning on wearing flats; not sure what color. Any idea?

Not to be rude, but I dont see why a white shirt would not be appropriate for a wedding. If it was a white t-shirt with holes in it, I would agree, but in this case I do not. White or neutral flats would work if you decide to wear the white shirt.

I would recommend a white blouse, if you are uncomfortable wearing a button down shirt (although that would be my first pick)

keep the shoes a solid color, maybe a nice white flat?

Accessorize with some white gold/silver jewelry.

For a cover up, bring a nice sweater pull over that matches the top.

what about a fitted white tank top or t-shirt, and a denim jacket?

Well i also have a wedding coming up latter on this month so i bought this magazine for some tips and idea and the magazine said that for casual outdoor wedding a nice summer dress that’s a decent lenght would be appropriate for this type of situation. You could try floral print since that’s what seems to be in style according to the magazine. the skirt you mentioned sounds fine why dont you just par it with a fitted embellished shirt that plays it up and for the flats you could try something that plays off the color of your skirt. Im personally wearing a silk dress in fuchsia with some golden leather flats to the wedding i have to go too.

and for cover up you could try a tencel wrap cardigan or a cute cropped jacket or just a cotton modal cardigan

You’re on the right track! It will be OK to wear a white button-up shirt with a colored skirt. That outfit won’t upstage the bride, especially in summer weather. The shirt should protect you from sunburn to some extent, but you’d do well to apply sunscreen also.

You’re right about being prepared for chilly weather as the sun goes down. A nice sweater, or a blazer-type jacket, would be appropriate. You could fold up a head scarf and carry it along with gloves in your handbag, in case you need extra warmth.

Flat shoes are just right. It doesn’t matter too much what color they are. The ground outdoors will be soft, and heels would sink right in. At the last outdoor wedding we attended, the back legs of the folding chairs sank into the ground too. I was lucky enough to find a couple of flat stones I could put under them, or I’d have tipped right over backwards. You could bring along a couple of squares of wood, but I imagine you’d just end up offering them to some hapless elderly person.

    Have a nice time!

I think if it’s really casual wedding than a skirt and a really cute shiny tank top will be good and u can take a sweater if u get cold. The flats could match the tank top or sweater.

I think a white top is ok for a wedding. You could wear a jacket over it. And I think I would wear black flats.

How about purchasing a black button-up shirt
    with black flats.

It is late afternoon going into the evening so
black is perfect. Best of all you have an excuse
to purchase a new shirt and later you can wear the
shirt and shoes with anything, including jeans.

    Have Fun!
